Bulongguor Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is in west band of Bulong River, 24 km north of Hoxtolgay Town (86°06′E, 46°43′N), Hobokesar County, Northern Xinjiang. The Bulongguor Formation was named by the Xinjiang Party of Regional Geological Survey and the Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (1973) based on the study of coral Plasmoporella found by the Xinjiang Team of Regional Geological Survey in Bulongguor County, Xinjiang, in 1959, and was published by Hou Hongfei et al. (1979).
Synonym: (布龙果尔组)
Lithology and Thickness
In the type area, the Bulongguor Formation is dominated by tuffaceous conglomerate, sandstone intercalated with marl lenses. This formation recorded thickness of 297 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
With a covered lower boundary at type section. Regionally the next older unit is the Bulukqi Fm of mid-Ordovician.
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the banded cherty, siliceous siltstone of the Bulong Fm
Regional extent
This stratigraphic unit is exposed western of Bulongguor and the middle reaches of Ulas River (Xiao, 1979, 1990).

Fossils
Abundant coral, Stromatopora and minor gastropod and trilobite have been found from the limestone. The coral Agetolites-Plasmoporella-Taeniolites assemblage has been established in this formation.

Depositional setting
It represents nearshore-shallow sea deposit dominated by submarine volcanic eruption.
